The main difference between room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber and high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is that the former is based on Polysiloxane with small molecular weight, which can be vulcanized into elastomer with room temperature or a little heating under the action of crosslinking agent and catalyst. Room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is composed of base rubber, crosslinking agent, catalyst, filler, etc. In terms of packaging form, it can be divided into one-component and two-component.
1. Two-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber
The two-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is convenient to use. Without heating and pressurizing equipment, it can be vulcanized into elastomer by mixing the basic rubber with catalyst, and there is no heat absorption or exothermic problem. Although polyester resin and epoxy resin can be used under similar conditions, they have the disadvantage of exothermic during curing.
According to the needs of processing and application, it can be made into low viscosity oil, high consistency paste or putty rubber products. Vulcanizates with different properties can be obtained by changing the type, dosage and vulcanization conditions of catalyst.
2. One-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber
One-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is one of the main products of condensed silicone rubber. It is composed of base glue, filler, crosslinking agent, catalyst, plasticizer, pigment, etc. The base glue is α,ω- Dihydroxy polysiloxane. The filler plays the role of reinforcing, compatibilizing and giving special performance. There are many kinds of crosslinking agents, catalysts and other fillers, depending on market demand and product performance.
