Silicone rubber is a rubber whose main chain is composed of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms, with two organic groups usually attached to the silicon atom. Ordinary silicone rubber mainly consists of silicone oxygen links containing methyl and a small amount of vinyl. The introduction of phenyl can improve the high and low temperature resistance of silicone rubber, while the introduction of trifluoropropyl and cyano can improve the temperature and oil resistance of silicone rubber.
The permeability of silicone rubber products is good, and the oxygen transmission rate is the highest among synthetic polymers. In addition, silicone rubber products also have the outstanding characteristics of physiological inertness and does not cause blood clotting, so it is widely used in the medical field. Although the strength of silicone rubber at room temperature is only half of natural rubber or some synthetic rubber, but in the high temperature environment above 200 ℃, silicone rubber can still maintain a certain degree of flexibility, resilience and surface hardness, and no significant changes in mechanical properties.
This is the most outstanding advantage of silicone rubber products, able to resist high temperature. It can both play the proper strength at room temperature and work at high temperature. But in the environment above 200 degrees, it still maintains the proper flexibility as well as elasticity and hardness. At such high temperatures, the mechanical properties remain unchanged.

Silicone rubber products have good low-temperature resistance and generally works at -55℃. After the introduction of phenyl, it can reach -73℃.
