The silane coupling agents form a chemical bond between the surface of the glass fiber and the polymer (composite matrix) to prevent moisture from penetrating into the interface between the glass fiber and the polymer, thereby increasing the transfer of stress from the polymer to the fiber.

In the casting process of resin-coated sand, many natural and synthetic resins are used as molding sand and core sand binders. Because sand and resin have very different structures and properties, they are not easy to bond with chemical bonds, nor are they easy to penetrate and dissolve each other. Therefore, their connection is mainly through the mutual attraction between molecules on the interface. Consequently, coupling agents are usually used to enhance the bonding effect, that is, to enhance the bonding force of the interface between the resin mold and the sand grains.
