RTV silicone rubber is a single-component, room temperature, neutral-cured silicone rubber that is specifically designed for bonding, fixing, sealing, and waterproofing electronic appliances, metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, and other products. It has good aging resistance, high and low-temperature resistance (-50°C to +200°C), and moisture resistance. It does not corrode a variety of metal materials and plastics, has excellent electrical properties, and has excellent adhesion performance, with a flame retardant rating of UL94V-0.
The colloid has a fine appearance, flows out smoothly, has good operability, and is easy to manually and mechanically apply adhesive. It has excellent insulation, aging resistance, and sealing properties, as well as good bonding performance. It is a single-component, room-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber without corrosion that can be used for a long time within a temperature range of -50°C to 200°C without any problems.
The RTV room temperature vulcanizing is mainly used for bonding, sealing, insulation, shockproofing, waterproofing, and other purposes, such as bonding and fixation of elements such as power adapters, as well as in industries such as PCBA boards, LED lamps, and solar photovoltaic components.
Substrate Cleaning: Remove and wash any pollutants that may affect the material's performance, making it clean and dry.
Adhesive application: The single-component RTV silicone molding rubber can be manually or mechanically applied to the corresponding substrate's adhesive part.
Curing: Single-component RTV silicone rubber is a moisture-cured material, and its surface drying and curing speed depends on the relative humidity, temperature, and adhesive thickness of the material used.
Surface drying and curing time: At 25°C and RH: 50%, the surface drying time is 2-15 minutes and the preliminary curing time for the 2-6mm thick coating is approximately 2-4 hours.
The configuration of single-component RTV silicone molding rubber mainly depends on designing the formula and preparation process according to the type and performance requirements of the crosslinking agent used. Based on the characteristics of single-component RTV silicone rubber, which are dependent on air moisture curing and use as sealants and adhesives, in addition to considering various post-curing performances in the formulation and preparation process, it is also important to consider the pre-curing use process requirements and storage stability of the adhesive material in the packaging container.
As an adhesive, the rtv rubber silicone should have appropriate flowability so that it does not flow out of the bonding position due to low viscosity or is not difficult to coat and apply due to high viscosity. As a sealant, it should have thixotropy so that it does not flow off the sealing position during construction and before vulcanization, but can be extruded from the container or pumped. In the sealed packaging container, the adhesive material will not become structured or change in curing speed and post-curing performance due to long-term storage.
When used as an adhesive, the performance requirements after curing for single-component RTV silicone moulding rubber are mainly good bonding to the contact substrate, no corrosion, good physical and mechanical properties, electrical properties, and flame retardancy. In recent years, the use of single-component RTV silicone rubber in the electronics and electrical industry has placed special emphasis on controlling the content of low-molecular-weight silicone siloxanes to avoid their use in micro-motors, relays, and switches in high-temperature sealed systems.
